Structure of Scouting

Here's a breakdown of the structure of scouting.

Dens are small groups of scouts in the same grade.  Each den has a Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader - these leaders are usually parents of scouts in the den.  Dens meet together to do various activities and complete requirements to advance to the next rank.

  • Lions: Kindergarteners
  • Tigers:  1st Graders
  • Wolves:  2nd Graders
  • Bears:  3rd Graders
  • Webelos:  4th Graders
  • Arrow of Light (Webelos II):  5th Graders

Pack:  When all of our dens come together, they form our pack.  The pack is led by the Cubmaster and committee.

Committee:  Pack leaders and parents get together once a month to plan pack program and activities.

District:  The Iron Horse District is the group of packs in the Olathe, Spring Hill, DeSoto, and Gardner school districts.

Council:  The Heart of America Council is composed of several districts in the Kansas City Area.
