Troop 1610 provides scouting activities to young boys in the Royal Oak, MI area. Through those activities we strive to teach boys the principles of scouting through respect for the individual and to develop and use their potential to the best of their ability. With more than 130 Merit Badges -- from Archery and Art to Welding and Wilderness Survival -- Scouting is the ultimate form of learning by doing. Boy Scouts explore their interests and improve their skills while working toward Scouting’s highest rank: Eagle. By first imagining, planning then doing their own service projects, Boy Scouts learn the value of hard work, and experience the thrill of seeing it pay off. Add in outdoor adventures, hiking and camping, and Scouting gives boys all the experience they need to become men.
We go on monthly camping adventures where our scouts participate in activities like swimming, climbing walls, archery and wilderness survival. The scouts cook their own meals over camp fires and camp stoves, sing songs and play silly games. They study the natural world and the wildlife that lives in it while respecting the environment and leaving no trace when we go home. All of this we do in the spirit of scouting.
Troop 1610 prides itself on being a scout-led troop. That means that our scouts plan and lead our activities. The youth leaders are chosen by an annual election by the scouts in the troop. Adult leaders, including the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters, are always available to provide mentoring and guidance to the youth leaders.

We are guided by a set of principles we hold along with all other members of Scouts BSA. We frequently recommit ourselves by reciting the Scout Oath in public places. These principles form the basis of a Scout's actions and serve to ensure that we maintain a reputation as honorable citizens in our society, community, nation, and world.
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
