The Unit Options page is only accessible to those with the leader role. To access this page select the menu option Administration => Options.
This page allows you to:
- set important information about your Pack/Troop
- select options for various sections of the tool
- add/remove Committee Positions (for recharter)
- extend your license
This section contains the basic information about your unit. Ensure this is accurate as this information is used throughout the website and in reporting.
Allow Parents to sign off requirements
Many Packs allow parents to sign off on requirements for their Scout. If your Pack allows this enable this and the next time a parent signs in the requirements check boxes will be for them.
Enable Lion Cub Program
The Lion Cub is a program the BSA is piloting with a very limited number of councils. If your council is participating you can enable this to allow selection of the Lion Cub rank. See here for more information
Create a bookkeeping account for each new Scout
When enabled Scout Manager will automatically create a new "scout account" when a new Scout is created.
Create a bookkeeping account for each new User/Parent/Leader
When enabled Scout Manager will automatically create a new "user account" when a new User (non-Scout) is created.
The mail options apply site wide when any email is sent out including from manually written emails, Events, Newsletters, etc.
Copy parents on all emails to scouts
Ensures that parents will be cc'd on any email to a scout. This only works if you've associated the Parent(s) with the Scout.
Restrict leaders to use Bcc for email communication
Ensures that leaders can only send out emails with BCC. Using BCC is a great way to protect your leaders and parents email accounts when sending out mass emails.
Restrict general users to use Bcc for email communication
When enabled Scout Manager will only allow non-leaders to send emails with others BCC'd.
Bcc stands for blind carbon copy which is similar to that of Cc except that the Email address of the recipients specified in this field do not appear in the received message header and the recipients in the To or Cc fields will not know that a copy was sent to those addresses.
The data in this section is used when rechartering your unit. The BSA (and your council) requires certain positions to be filled to recharter. This is where you can specify those positions. You can select from a variety of BSA recognized positions and any adult member of your unit. A person can be assigned to more than one role, however its up to the BSA and your council whether they will accept your data.
